The information emailed to you when you booked should have included inforation on where to get discounted ski hire. If you didn’t get this, contact us and we can arrange that for you. Pick up your gear as you come through Jindabyne unless you have your own or have hired elsewhere.
If you arrive in the afternoon, take a stroll around the Alpine Habitats Eco-walk. You can veer off this track and visit the Threbo Valley Distillery and sample some of their Schnapps. They run a cafe style menu (http://www NULL.wildbrumby NULL.com/cafe/) so you could grab an early dinner (they usually close around 5pm) or an afternoon snack, cookie or cake for the kids?
For dinner try Crackenback Cottage just over the Alpine Way or Knickerbocker (http://www NULL.theknickerbocker NULL.com NULL.au/) if you feel like a drive to Thredbo. If you are self catering, cook up a BBQ on the balcony then pop on one of our latest release inhouse movies for the kids and have a quite drink on the balcony watching the sun set, hopefully you might spot a Kangaroo or some other wildlife getting around. You might need a good jacket to keep warm! If the kids are off to bed, it might be movie time.
We can arrange a breakfast hamper to be in your room when you arrive of you can self cater unless you feel like eating out for breakfast.
From Alpine Habitats, you can easily ski Perisher or Thredbo. Thredbo is a 20km drive up the Alpine Way. You can drive 40km to Perisher going back down the Alpine Way and turning left onto Kosciouskzo Road but the quickest way is to travel 5 minutes up the Alpine Way towards Thredbo and catch the Skitube (http://www NULL.perisherblue NULL.com NULL.au/winter/transport/skitube NULL.html) – an underground railway that brings you out in the centre of Perisher. Using the tube you rarely need to put snow chains on.
At either resort you can arrange private or group lessons and this is the best way if you have not skiied or boarded before or it has been a few years since your last trip.
Both resorts can take care of the kids while the adults ski or board. Thredboland (http://www NULL.thredbo NULL.com NULL.au/bookings-and-tickets/snow-sports-school/) takes children between 3 and 6 years old and Freeriders (http://www NULL.thredbo NULL.com NULL.au/bookings-and-tickets/snow-sports-school/) is for the kids 7 to 14 years old. In Perisher, the Milo Club runs Snowy Day Care (http://www NULL.perisher NULL.com NULL.au/winter/snowsports/daycare NULL.html)of little ones 6 weeks old to 3 years, Discovery Kids (http://www NULL.perisher NULL.com NULL.au/winter/snowsports/discovery NULL.html)for 3 and 4 year olds, Adventure Kids (http://www NULL.perisher NULL.com NULL.au/winter/snowsports/adventure NULL.html)for 5 to 7 year olds and Explorer Kids (http://www NULL.perisher NULL.com NULL.au/winter/snowsports/explorer NULL.html)for the ones up to 14 years old.
When you are done sking for the day, head home, maybe stop in at Crackenback Cottage which is across the road from us for an afternoon drink or a snack. If the weather is a bit ordinary up the hill, drop into Lake Crackenback Resort and try a Segway EcoTour. These suit ALL ages.
That evening you could try a restaurant in Jindbyne or Thredbo or Cuisine on Lake Crackenback - they have a kids room there. If you want to go without the kids, try Little Brumbies Nanny Service and arrange for Antoinette to come out and look after them.
If your body needs some assistance recovering for the next day, try an in-house massage
If not all of the travelling party skis, why not try snow shoeing - it is a really easy way to enjoy the snow and we can arrange a trip with experienced guides.
You are always welcome to contact us and discuss other options as the above is only a suggestion!
